Denis passed away peacefully at the Countess of Chester Hospital on Thursday 19th March 2026, aged 103 years.

Now reunited with his beloved Wife, Joan. A cherished Dad to Lisel and Nigel.

Denis will be so dearly missed by all who knew him.

Dorothy passed away peacefully at the Countess of Chester Hospital on Monday 6th April 2026, aged 87 years. 

Now reunited with her beloved Husband, John who she has missed dearly for the last 29 years.

A loving Mum to Paul, Robert and Tim. Cherished Nanny Dot to her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Dot will be so dearly missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy is the former landlady of the Rake and Pikel, barmaid at the Carlton Tavern and stewardess at the Chester Liberal Club. She regularly attended the ladies darts for the Chester Liberal Club and was more recently a keen dominoes player for a team in Frodsham.

‘Peggy’

Passed away peacefully at Prospect House Nursing Home on 14th April 2026, aged 90 years.

Much loved Mum to Richard, Meg and Pennie.

A special Grandma and Great-Grandma.

My wife Petra and I are sorry to hear the sad news of Peggy’s death.

Peggy was the aunt that any child would have wished for. She was kind, patient, sensitive, thoughtful and diligent.

I remember many happy times with Peggy and Tony in the 1950s and ’60s. I always looked forward to visiting their home, 36 The Pastures, Repton; I spent a wonderful week on the local canals with them on a motorboat, said to have been constructed in carpentry classes by the boys of Repton School.

I was sent to stay with Peggy and Tony over my Easter holiday in 1968 as a last-ditch attempt to cram for my Common Entrance Exam. Peggy worked on my English and Tony on my Maths and this they also made a pleasure. The result, to everyone’s surprise, was that I passed both subjects – and both have given me continued satisfaction throughout my life.

I am sorry not to have had much opportunity to stay in touch in later years but Petra and I send our sincere condolences to all in Peggy’s close family.

Liz and I were saddened to hear the news that Peggy had died.

I have many happy childhood memories of times spent with Peggy and Tony both in Repton and in Sandown. During times spent at Repton, Peggy and Tony encouraged us to take an interest in nature and long walks with Kaleb, the golden labrador, were opportunities to collect wildflowers and grasses, press them and stick them in a scrap book for identification and labelling.

Bed time stories of Winnie the Pooh, Swallows and Amazons and of course Biggles were favourite times, with all the voices accents and animations possible.

I remember well a very enjoyable week spent with Peggy and Tony along with my brother John on the canals in a boat built by the Repton school carpentry class. It actually floated!

Peggy was also a special Aunt, always open, interested, positive, supportive and encouraging.

For my 21st birthday Peggy and Tony sent me a message quoting from Ephesians 6 encouraging me to “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power, to put on the full armour of God and to be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people” which is something I believe she did.

Living abroad has meant that Liz and I have sadly had little contact in recent years. Peggy will, however, be very much missed and we send our condolences to her family.

Palma peacefully passed away at the Countess of Chester Hospital with her loving family by her side on Saturday 2nd May 2026, aged 87 years.

Reunited with her Husband, Guillermo, who she has missed dearly for the last 31 years.

A cherished Mum to Antonio, William, Maria, Joseph and Lidia, and a loving Nana to her 13 Grandchildren, and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Palma ‘La Reina’ of the Perez family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Requiem Mass will take place at 12:00 PM on Wednesday 27th May 2026, at St Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Chester. Followed by Burial at Blacon Cemetery.

Aunty you will be dearly missed by us all, I’m particularly going to miss my visits with you on my days off which were full of laughter and reminiscing about the old times and the struggles you all overcome . Remembering the days when the Anglo Italian clan were all here spending family times together. Rest easy Zia, you’ve certainly earned it. Please give my mama and Sorella a big kiss for me. Palma for 9 years I was with you & your family ,loving life eating all that home made pasta , especially the Lasagne 😋watching Lydia hide her food anywhere she could to save eating it ,really funny now when i think back , you was always saying Eat Sue Eat sue , your so bloody skinny you need more meat on ya , well I’ll tell ya now my arse does not need any more meat these days that’s for sure ,then Maria would start get that pasta soup ate and all that bread with it , oh those days ,then Maria always cutting & blow drying my hair into a DA as it was known , (Ducks Arse ) was what I called it 😂mustn’t forget Tony always in and out as was joey lots an lots aftershave on stinking the house out as Palma wound say 😍oh and mustn’t forget Billy and the George an dragon days , he just loved those fruit machines , money in 1 hand , gone the next , as Palma would say pissed it up the wall again , funny , and then there was Guillermo never said much , but by god when he did we we knew about it , great times we all had back in the days until we meet again you two beauties 💙🩷Another Angel, Rest in peace Palma , I’am sure your wrapped up in Guillermos Arms lots of love always sue xxxxx

From Barcelona, ​​Spain, we want to say goodbye to our aunt and sister-in-law. With the pain in our hearts and the joy of having had the pleasure of having her in our lives, she will now be by Uncle Guillermo’s side, laughing and watching over us from heaven. The queen has left us, but her memories will always remain with Uncle Guillermo, with us until the end of our lives, until we meet again, along with all the Pérez family. Losing Nana feels like losing a piece of my heart. She was such a huge part of all our lives , and I honestly don’t know how to imagine life without her. I’ll always remember her in the kitchen cooking meals that brought everyone together, making sure nobody ever left hungry. Food was her way of showing love, and some of my favourite memories are just being with her while she cooked, talked, and made us laugh.
She always said things exactly how they were — no pretending, no sugar coating — and that’s one of the things I loved most about her. She was strong, honest, caring, and full of love in her own special way. No matter what was going on, she always made us feel safe and cared for.
I’ll miss her voice, cooking, and all the little moments that meant so much more than I ever realised at the time. I feel so lucky to have had her as my nana and I’ll carry her love and memories with me forever. She will be deeply missed every single day. Until we meet again xxx

Hi dear cousins, I was really cheerless & low spirited after hearing the sad news of aunties passing. From the times I can remember whenever we met she always radiated geniality & genuine concern as to my wellbeing, I remember having a cuppa with her in the market a few times always gave good advice, to me anyway! I’ve got a great photo of us at a wedding she has linked her arm through mine it’s a nice piece of visual keepsake, just to add one more quality is the fact that she is part of the ( The golden generation) which sadly we won’t see again. Clwyd, peacefully passed away at the Maelor Hospital, Wrexham on Saturday 30th May 2026 aged 82 years.

Mihalis ‘Mike’ peacefully passed away at the Countess of Chester Hospital on Saturday 30th May 2026, aged 88 years.

Yolanda will always remember her Dad for saying, ‘Hello YoYo how are you?’ every time he greeted her.

Jon peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday 14th June 2026.

An inspiring entomologist, who loved to share his lifelong passion for, and knowledge of the natural world, far and wide.

Loving Husband to Julie. Dad to Oliver, Henry, Laurie and Fred. Dear Brother to Jeremy and Julian. Much loved Son of the late Brian and Joan.

Adored family member and friend to many.

As part of Jon’s farewell, the family have chosen a cardboard coffin that will be dressed with artwork, messages, memories, drawings, and personal touches from those who knew and loved Jon.

On Thursday 9th July 2026, Jon’s family will accompany him on his final journey to his home county, Kent. The family invite you to wear bright colours to reflect Jon’s colourful life.

I was a colleague of Jon’s for 16 years at Liverpool Hope and he was a great help and inspiration. He constructed computer formulae and spreadsheets for me. He always had time to help and introduced me to digital photography from which I have never looked back. We’ll all miss you. Let’s hope there are plenty of bugs in heaven!

Simpley…A good human who taught me respect for insects and will be sorely missed around Tilston. 14th June will forever be ‘Insect Day’ for our family and we will always do something to encourage more bugs into our gardens.

My research on moth polymorphisms benefitted greatly from Jon’s expertise in where to find and rear particular species, which he generously extended to my students and anyone interested. We also shared the habit of occasionally travelling with insects in our bags. He was not one for short conversations, ideally over a decent pint. You are sorely missed.

I worked with Jon at Liverpool Hope University, where he shared so much of his knowledge of GIS with me. I’ll always remember his generosity—not only in teaching, but also in the way he passed on his older computer equipment as he upgraded, which helped me enormously. I also had the pleasure of looking after his various pets while he was away—everything from insects to silk moth larvae—which spoke to his wonderfully unique character.
The world feels diminished by his loss, but I feel truly fortunate to have known him and to have learned from him.

I always enjoyed talking with Jon after research seminars at Liverpool University, the two of us triangulating between orange-tip butterflies (my research interest), stick insects and the whole world of entomology in general. He had deep practical knowledge of rearing insects, and of course a scholarly understanding of them as well. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of Jon. To me he was a special ‘go-to’ expert on orthoptera (grasshoppers and crickets), he was generous with his expertise and I learned so much from him. He even came to Derby, together with Fred, for our bush cricket hunt days at our local nature reserve.

Carol passed away peacefully at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd on Friday 12th June 2026, aged 80 years.

Beloved wife of Alfie, a loving Mum to Mark and Sarah. Mother-in-Law to Dawn and Kevin. Nanny Carol to Luke, Jess, Abi, Hannah, Jake and Joe. Carol was adored by her Great-Grandchildren, Henry, Elliott, Leo, Zac, Rosie, Soraya, Henrik and Sonny. Bonus Great-Grandma to Kyran and Amira. 

Carol will be so dearly missed by all of her family and friends. 

The family would like to thank all of the staff on Ward 43 and Ward 60 at the Countess of Chester Hospital for the care they provided to Carol. A special thank you also goes to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd for making Carol’s final days as comfortable as possible.
