Selma was our funkiest relation ever
We adored her as youngsters . We send lots of love and good memories to Sarah Rachel and Gila and all the families
May she rest in peace and radiate laughter upstairs

I first met Selma 54 years ago and from that very first day her warmth and wonderful humour has shone through. She instantly made me feel truly a part of her family and indeed that’s how I have felt ever since.
She was a wonderful mum showing her three lovely girls the values of compassion and “family”. I think we can expect to feel a little diminished now by Selly’s presence no longer being in our lives. May her dear soul rest in peace and her legacy continue for ever more.

Darling Selly.
The oldest of my cousins, and loved by us all. She was “Bossy Boots” when I was little, but in the best way. So, so many good memories. She was kind, loving, and incredibly funny. Even though I didn’t get to see her in her later years, I would follow her through the girls’ posts on FB, and see pics of birthdays etc. She always looked smashing…
And that smile!
I know you’re somewhere having a good laugh with your Aunty Sonia 😏
All my love always to Sarah, Rachel and Gila
💚💙💜

I was one of Selma’s bridesmaid, a little tiny tot with a big voice that shouted to my mum that I needed a wee wee, just as the service was starting !
Not sure Selma forgave me, but we certainly laughed about it many times.
Wishing you all the best memories
She loved you all x

Dearest Selly,
I remember a truly wonderful woman — witty, glamorous, and always the boss in the very best way. She had a presence that filled a room and a humour that stayed with you long after.
We are all better for having known her and she will never be forgotten.
Sending love to Sarah, Rachel and Gila at this difficult time.
Lots of love
Teresa xxxx

Miss you my lovely number 1 cousin.

Always loved to call you especially on your birthday to chat and have fun and laugh about the years gone by.

Thinking of you and family
Lots of love
Janis xxx

A strong feisty woman with warmth and wit – who raised three fine daughters single handedly. Little wonder you were so proud.

As a family we have fond memories of Selma – she’s was good fun!

Dear Simon, Lori, Jade and Nathan,

I am so sorry to hear this news, which has left me momentarily frozen.

Kyle was a huge part of my childhood, and one of my closest friends growing up. I’ll always remember playing together in Churton, our easy, happy days through the Firs, and the late nights spent gaming together online. Even later, when life had pulled us all into different shapes, I loved the moments we shared remembering those times, and how near they still felt.

He will be deeply missed, and I am thinking of you all tomorrow.

With so much love,
Otto

I worked for a number of years at SLS with Kyle and more recently closely with him at his new role at Esco, he was always so very kind hearted and loved by all whom met him. My deepest sympathy to all his family and girlfriend. I unfortunately couldn’t attend Kyle’s funeral due to surgery a few days before but I followed it on Zoom, the love shown in the church showed how very special Kyle was to all whom knew him x

So saddened to hear the passing of lovely Ann: I loved our chats as you walked past the library in your lovely yellow coat. Vibrant just like your personality. Sending lots of love to you all. Apologies that we cannot be there but you will be in our thoughts xx

I’m so upset and sorry to hear this sad news about Ann. Seventeen years ago I met her as a work colleague and soon she became a friend. She was a massive support during difficult times and so kind when I was going through personal tragedy. After retirement we have stayed in touch; our little group called the ‘Escapees’ meeting regularly on Zoom throughout the pandemic. We then became ‘ladies who lunch’ and I loved Ann’s bubbly company. I shall miss her. 🩷

I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Ann. We had many good chats when the girls were at school and out walking the dogs

Thinking of you all at this very sad time, Ann was a lovely friend and neighbour and will be sadly missed by us all xxxx

Ian James Crilly

28th Aug 2026

    Death Notices
Ian James Crilly

Ian passed away suddenly at home on Monday 5th January 2026, aged 66 years.

Now reunited with his beloved Son, Joseph.

Adored Husband of Judith.

Ian will be very dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

We are saying goodbye to Ian at St Oswald’s Church, Church Lane, Backford, Chester CH2 4BE, on Friday 6th February 2026 at 10:30am, followed by churchyard Burial.

Although we havn’t been in touch closely over the years, doesn’t mean you weren’t loved dearly, you were my cousin. Over the past few years we did keep in touch regularly by text and I am so happy we did. We shared good and bad times and also laughs. I will never forget Ian, the last text chat we had was on Sunday as you were coming Into Southampton. I am so happy we did. Love you Ian and will never forget you and how strong you were xxx

I will always remember Crilly fondly, as the spotty dog costume in EVERY panto we put on in Lakelands. He will be missed by so many people, myself included x x x x

From the moment I first saw you nearly 50 years ago at circuit training in Bolton I remember thinking who is this Joe Ninety fitness machine. For all the fun times, laugher, hard training runs (they were never easy with Ian) to the races including Bill (Dad) and BWFC etc etc etc..so many beautiful memories of a brave and genuinely lovely man, you will be missed beyond compare, rest in peace my brother, God Bless and Love you Chris xx

Ian was very highly regarded at Farnworth Grammar School not only academically but also as one of the best cross country runners the school ever produced. He beat me in every single race, I think.
We were best mates in the first year (1971) and we took it in turns visiting each other’s houses on Saturdays, although we always made sure we got his evening paper round done.
He was a bit more ‘swotty’ than I was & in our 2nd year we were put in different classes, his was a higher academic grade than mine, so we drifted into other groups of mates, although we remained friends until I left in 1976.
I only bumped into Ian a few times after leaving school, once in a nightclub in Bolton, when he told me enthusiastically all about how he had joined the RAF.
A few years later I became a good mate of Kieran who updated me on Ian including the awful MND diagnosis.
I’ve posted on the school Facebook about Ian & the response was amazing, showing how well liked and even admired he was. A great tribute to a genuinely nice person.

So sorry for your loss and sorry I cant make it, such a lovely kind man and will be missed, my thoughts are with all of the family 😢 xx

Judith, I am so sorry to read this. Not seen you for a long time but we worked together in the school office. Fond memories.
Sending love and most sincere condolences
to you x

Ian was a lovely man who has had a lasting impact on my life. He inspired me to join the RAF and supported me through my application. When I left for basic training he gifted me his beret badge that he’d worn while serving. I wear that badge to this day and have done for my 13 years of service. Forever a reminder of his kindness
My deepest condolences.

We were so sad to hear from Judith that our dear friend Ian had passed away. A lovely man. We first met Ian when Joe and our son Simon played football for Westminster Park. Ian managed the team. We had an immediate connection as we were both big Bolton Wanderers fans. When our sons moved on to university we remained good friends. We used to travel to home games together. We will miss Ian so very much. We are so sorry to miss the funeral but you will be in our thoughts. xx

Ian was a very brave and courageous man who lived with MND. He was kind and had a good sense of humour. He was a pleasure to work with and support. He loved is son Joseph (who died too soon) and his wife Judith. My prayers are with you all. I know Ian found faith in the last years of his life which I hope gave him comfort.
Always iny thoughts.

She was my best mate, when where kids, we had some great times.
When I was little still in a pram, Susan would push me up down windfrith rd in Lee park Gateacre, so Susan was made up because she had a real baby in a pram, not a doll.
And her camping trips were something else, you had to go on one to believe it.
